Can Someone Explain the Benefits of a VPN to me?
I was wondering if I could get some advise on VPNs.
First off, reading this (https://forum.unogs.com/topic/200/netflix-is-hiding-results-from-vpn-users). Is it already too late to get into VPNs? It seems like Netflix would not have to put any effort at all into making them non viable. So if they have already put this effort into it, is it even worth getting a vpn?
Also I am not sure I understand the problem and solution exactly. So if I switch to another country, the Netflix software/website will not work at all? Or it will appear exactly the same as if I logged in normally?
And how will clicking 'Watch Now' work for non web browser netflixing? Will I need to browse uNoGS with my TV to watch Netflix in other regions? How does VPNing even work on TVs? Is it even that simple for computers, because obviously I do not want all websites thinking I am in Thailand (etc), just 1 specific traffic source. I have never used a VPN, so I am not sure how I would set it up to be able to fool Netflix but not ruin the rest of my internet experience.
Also, I tried looking up the benefits, but it showed that Canada basically tied America for most content. But it was not clear if that meant that as a Canadian I had access to pretty much everything on Netflix, or that even the most broad catalogue (America) only had access to a tiny portion of the catalogue, and VPNing will expand your choices immensely.
